After 33 years of service, I retired as Fire Chief of the Easton Fire Department in 2002. During my time on the EFD, I attended college at Massasoit CC, Boston State College, and U-Mass Boston, earning a MA in Education. I also became an OSHA authorized trainer for General Industry and the Construction Industry. I am an Adjunct faculty member of the Fire Science Technology Department at Massasoit CC where I have taught for 40 years. I also teach Safety subjects for the New England Water Works Association a few times each month. I have 7 grandchildren ranging from 29 to 2 that also keep my wife and I busy.

After graduation, I was drafted into the Army and was sent to South Korea for two years as a dog handler around the missile base. I came home and went to work at Triple P Paper and Packaging Company in Brockton, met my wife Marie, got married, and had one son Kenneth. I joined the City of Brockton Fire Dept in 1969 and retired from there in 2001. Then I went down to South Carolina in 2004. I'm taking care of my 88 year old mother, which I enjoy and am grateful to have the opportunity to do because she did so much for me as I was growing up. She supported 3 people on a waitress's compensation, sent me to college, and now I am happy to be able to help her. I'm taking my fifth French course this term, trying to master the language, but not so you'd notice much. I read French newspapers, and watch French TV. We have two grown sons, and we enjoy spending time with them, and our youngest, Andrew, will be getting married April 26th. I also enjoy spending time trying to find great investments, which is what I did professionally before retiring 4 years ago.

Volunteering.... In July 1988, I started a non-profit to feed the needy a hot Sunday noon meal under a bridge in downtown San Antonio. During this time I only missed two Sundays. After 24 years of coordinating this project, I turned the reins over to someone on the board. With much relief I still cook every once in a while for the approximate 200 folks that are fed each Sunday. In the summer of 2012, I completely refurbished a library in a poor under-performing Catholic school. Until a month ago, I volunteered in the library several times a week since the librarian was assigned other tasks. I have been on several medical missions to the interior of southern Mexico and to several places in Guatemala as an operating room RN. I retired at the end of 2006 after 26 years with Digital Equipment Corporation, which was bought by Compaq, which was later bought by Hewlett-Packard Company. Same office for the last 9 of those years, just different logos on the business cards. One of the first things I did is adopt an elderly Scottish Terrier from the Scottish Terrier Rescue Club. Piper was deaf and almost blind and lived with us for 2-1/2 years before crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Kelsey Sara, another Scottie, came to us shortly afterwards and is still busy training me properly. I love the breed. They are smart, feisty and stubborn, all the things we are or should be in our old age. Kelsey certainly knows how to use her "cute card." After a lifetime of New England winters, I now live in The Villages, Florida, a very large 55+ community. Love the warm weather and sunshine.

I retired in June 2013. My last job was teaching ESL to Haitian and Vietnamese children in the Boston Public Schools. My husband Ken and I are involved in a group, led by a Haitian-born priest, who is trying to build a vocational school in Haiti. We visited the country in January and saw the land where the school will be located. We are enjoying our retirement, entertaining the grandkids, reading, Zumba (me), Ping-Pong (Ken), and quilting (me). Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in September.

After college, I taught 2nd grade before getting married and moving to England for a couple years. In December of 1980, the four of us relocated to IL for my husband's work. I taught preschool for many years there before returning to college to learn computers and business strategies for a job in the business world. I worked for the Society of Actuaries for 10 years in the Education Department; one of my main responsibilities was typing the actuarial exams that are required for certification as an actuary. In 1998 and newly single, I relocated back to MA; my grown kids stayed in IL as that was home and friends and work for them. I worked for 12+ years for Fidelity Investments in Marlboro, retiring in December 2011 when my work location closed. I could have kept my job by moving up to New Hampshire, but after a few tough winters in Central MA, I went for warmth and just retired. - moved to The Villages in FL – a VERY active over-55 community. Here I've been trying various courses at the learning college (learned a lot of things that I do not like or are not good at – like pine needle basket making). I even took golf lessons and you know what – Tiger Woods has nothing to worry about from me!!! And I joined a few exercise classes to firm me up. Might not be working as well as I'd like but I can make it to the fridge quicker now! Looking forward to seeing some high school friends in September; it's only my 2nd reunion since 1964. Hope you all are looking forward, too. Is it only me or did the 50 years go by really quickly? Or is that what “mature” people say????

Bill and I have been residents of Arizona for over 25 years and though we have made it our home, we are always drawn back to New England, his being from Quincy. We seem to get back a few times a year and am able to go to my growing-up home on Sheridan St where my niece Holly lives. It is always a great feeling opening the door and remembering life there in New England and in North Easton. Hot, Hot, Hot, yes, it is here many many months of the year but always sunshine here in Arizona. I heard the other day, someone was chasing the RAIN, which we seldom see. We have traveled this beautiful state, though it took many years to acclimate to the desert. Our son, Adam works in the Grand Canyon, with that magnificent beauty that we are in awe of. We keep ourselves plenty busy but our lives are simple. So happy for the internet, I can keep in touch with sisters and family and friends all the time. My brother Joe created Povoas Park, a pocket park, on the corner of Center and Bridge St. It will be a lasting memory of the Povoas family and our Easton roots.

I've been a New Jersey resident since our graduation but will always be an "Eastoner" at heart. I still root for the Red Sox and Patriots even though - dare I say it here - my husband and others in the family are Yankees and Giants fans (ugh!). Other than that challenge, life is good. I had a great career in Information Technology at AT&T, retiring in 1998 as a Division Manager. I then spent a few years with DMR Consulting (Fujitsu company) in Canada - a great experience. After OAHS, I attended Stonehill College. While there, surely stimulated by an excellent liberal arts program, I spent the last 2 years also planning an extensive trip to Europe, selecting which countries to visit, what to see & do in each place & in which seasons. Of course plans changed immediately. I got a job in Copenhagen but after a couple of months of long, dark winter days, I headed south to Rome for the first time--& stayed 2 months. Later I continued travelling throughout Europe, took a summer course at Cambridge University and then got a visa to visit the USSR. Going through Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin to take the train to Leningrad, Moscow & out via Prague still makes me wonder how I managed that on my own. Anyway, overall that turned out to be a 14-month-long trip. Back in the US, I worked as a social worker and then a supervisor of a unit for the Welfare Dept & lived in Boston & Cambridge. Enough of that--I went back to graduate school and got an M.A. in teaching English as a Foreign Language at Teachers College, Columbia University...and then headed back to Rome. The plan was to get good experience working abroad for a year or two in my new profession, but 30+ years later I'm still there!

Hello, Class of '64! I'm still trying to fill out my Eastoner activities form. Fifty years in 50 words??? Impossible! After graduating from Drake University in Des Moines, the first decade was teaching and social service projects, such as food co-ops, runaway youth programs, hotline, theatre, and the like. Since 1979 I've worked all over the world specializing in festivals and events. A true career high was producing the finale of Singapore's Millennium Chinese New Year's celebration. Another was producing an international women's conference in Sweden attended by HM Queen Silvia and raising money for her charity. I lived in Stockholm for a decade and now, 30 countries later, am back in Boston. Charitable work the past few years has been for the Usher Syndrome Coalition, trying to find a cure for the leading cause of deaf-blindness, a disease which my nephew Randall inherited. Son Chris and granddaughter Anne live in suburban Seattle, and we are all avid golfers. although I confess I still hear the referee's whistle in field hockey every time my club goes above my waist. Fore!

I learned to tie my shoes at OAHS with the help of Billy Landry: During the winter of our Junior year a number of the guys were playing Pond Hockey on Shovel Shop Pond. I had never played hockey. Billy was the most experienced player. As I was lacing my skates Billy showed me how to tie the laces so that they would not loosen up while I was trying to skate. He was right, my skates did not loosen while I was skating/falling down a lot. I began tying my basketball sneakers and lace up shoes the way Billy taught me and I still do.

Difficult to cover 5 decades in a paragraph, but here goes! After graduating from Bridgewater State, I was hired as an elementary school teacher in Norton, where I retired from in 2010. After retiring, I discovered that Ginny Moore was also working for Norton schools! During one summer a friend and I did a cross country tour for six weeks, pulling a trailer! Crossing the Rockies was challenging, but so many amazing memories of that trip are with me. My husband is still working and my 2 children are on their own. Still waiting for those grand kids. Enjoying retirement- kickboxing, Zumba, Words With Friends, gardening, vacations in Harwichport, and as many trips to the beach as I can get.
